FUNDRAISING
Dance and Drill team is not recognized by the University Interscholastic League, and it is therefore not funded by the School District.  The success of the WAIS Wildcats Dance Team is thus due not only to the volunteer efforts of many, but also to the many businesses and individuals in the community who make a difference by financially supporting the Team to defray expenses for uniforms, costumes, props, lighting, transportation, and competition fees.
Since the Silver Starz began in 2001, girls have been learning the benefits of teamwork, developing leadership skills, and making lifelong friendships, they have been outstanding representatives of Westchester Academy for International Studies.  In 2009, the girls decided to change their name to be recognized for their school pride so they are now called the Westchester Academy (WAIS) Wildcats Dance Team.  Although their name has changed, their history will continue in their pursuit of excellence!   Being a Wildcats dance team member is a year-round commitment:  more than 500 hours of dance practice a year, attending dance camps in the summer, dancing at pep rallies and other community events in the fall, competing and performing at dance conventions and competitions in the spring, and producing their annual spring show for the community.  The girls and their families rely on contributions from underwriters and a number of fundraising projects to help cover more than 90% of the cost of being on the team.  Help us continue the Westchester Academy Wildcats Dance Team's tradition of excellence!
